Into a Ball - Debut EP Out Now

Spotify and iTunes

Picture
The Booklights' debut EP "Into A Ball" features five tracks ranging in tone and intensity. From the scorching vocals and propulsive dread of “Waywiser” to the soaring falsetto of “Sweeter on the Vine” to the classic folk worldliness of "My Woman, the Almanac" to "Slingshot" going full-on hoedown, each song is wrapped in a cloud of heavenly harmonies atop a bed of strings. It's all the classic comfort of Stephen Foster melodies through a 21st century lens. The EP concludes with a cover of The Velvet Underground's “All Tomorrow’s Parties” with crisp harmonies and symphonic sprawl...it's like the Association covering a Civil War marching song, ditching the shambling Warholian fuzz and instead giving it an orch-pop sheen. The EP was recorded remotely during the pandemic of 2020. It was produced, mixed, and mastered by James Frazee (Sharon Van Etten, Patti Smith, Esperanza Spaulding).
