Who are The Booklights?
Based in NYC, The Booklights began putting their sophisticated, un-ironic twist on folk music in 2014. Led by singer-songwriter, mandolinist/guitarist, Rob Morrison, the band includes Benny Elledge on percussion and vocals, Rachel Green on violin and vocals, and Lauren Molina on cello and vocals.
When not performing with the Booklights, each member of the band can be found acting in various shows on Broadway, Off-Broadway, tv/film, composing scores, playing in other bands, and doing voiceover work.
Rob Morrison most recently played “The Chorus” in a two -person highly conceptual "Frankenstein" (by Tristan Bernays, directed by Timothy Douglas), at Classic Stage Company. Rob also composed the play’s score and songs, which he performed live at every performance. Coming up, Rob will be in "Assassins" also at CSC, directed by John Doyle. Other favorite roles include Nicky/Trekkie Monster in "Avenue Q" and the titular character in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown". Rob is the voice of Doodle the dog on Nick Jr's hit animated series "Sunny Day." Additionally, his voice can be heard every day on your local PBS station on the Emmy-winning animated series "Peg + Cat". Additional voiceover credits include "Pokémon" (Disney XD) and "Bug Diaries" (Amazon). Rob composed the original score for the feature film "Sun Belt Express". During the pandemic he began performing on a new children's show called "Vasthy's Friends" puppeteering the character Noodle alongside Lauren Molina. Rob is also a member of the folk-rock band The Hollows.
Lauren Molina's Broadway credits include Johanna in the actor-musician revival of Sweeney Todd and Regina in Rock of Ages. She is a co-creator and performer with the acclaimed comedy-pop band The Skivvies. She won a Helen Hayes award for her portrayal of Cunegunde in Candide, directed by Mary Zimmerman at the Shakespeare Theatre in DC. She originated the role of Bella Rose in Desperate Measures Off-Broadway and received nominations for the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical and Outer Critics Circle for Best Supporting Actress. In 2019, she and her Skivvies partner Nick Cearley co-conceived a new actor-musician revival of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", also playing Lucy and Linus, at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. She is also a multi-instrumentalist and has released two solo albums.
Benny Elledge was last seen on Broadway as “Cal” in the hit musical Waitress. He has appeared in numerous TV shows including Happy (SYFY), Sneaky Pete (Amazon), and Seven Seconds (NetFlix) as well as starring in the independent film Kringle Time. Other recent TV credits include Gotham (FOX), Blue Bloods (CBS), and The Detour (TBS). He can also be seen in the award winning web series’ Team Mars (www.teammarstv.com) and Knights of New Jersey (YouTube). Commercial work includes Red Mango, Verizon, MTV/Geico and more.
Rachel Green is a Comedian, Actress, Violinist, Singer, and VoiceOver Artist. Rachel can be seen on The Flight Attendant, Law & Order SVU, Bull and the upcoming film A Nice Girl Like You. She was featured in the NY Comedy Musical festival with her song parody of Part of Your World. Raised by a family of musicians, Rachel has been playing violin since she was four years old. Her creative spirit journeyed from Reiki master to Spoken Word artist, theater and musical theater to tv, film, and voice-over.
